Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to relocate to the United Kingdom after six years residing in the United States, in a move King Charles was only recently informed about. According to reports, the couple and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, have secured a private, non-royal residence outside London. A royal expert suggests the location could be in the Cotswolds, an area known for its rural charm and popularity among high-profile figures.
Property specialist Cal Graham, speaking exclusively to us, explained why the couple’s future home may not be the grandiose mansion that some might expect. With privacy and security likely being paramount concerns, a more discreet property could suit their needs better.
Graham stated, “If the reports are correct, the most suitable property would probably be one that looks relatively unremarkable from the public road but offers considerable privacy once inside. A modern home on a privately managed estate, set well back from the road and shielded by mature landscaping, would attract far less attention than an instantly recognisable country mansion.”

She added that privacy involves more than just expansive grounds. “A smaller property with controlled access, secure off-road parking and no obvious public viewpoints may be more discreet-and much easier to manage-than a sprawling estate with several boundaries, entrances and outbuildings.”
Achieving such discretion would require careful design prioritising privacy both inside and out. In terms of type of property, Cal Graham recommended a “high-quality rental on a professionally managed private estate” as an ideal option for the couple while they settle into their new circumstances.
“If they later decided to buy, a modern and energy-efficient house outside prime central London would probably offer the best balance. It could still provide privacy, space and access to London but without the upkeep and public visibility that often accompany a famous listed estate,” she explained.
“The perfect home for them may not be the grandest one. It is more likely to be the property that allows them to live most normally.”
Royal reporter Tom Sykes has suggested the couple may have chosen a property in the Cotswolds, a popular area for prominent figures, or the Northampton area near the Spencer family estate. The couple reportedly spent time at the Grade I-listed Althorp House, the childhood home of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, during their recent UK visit, according to BBC reports.
On his YouTube channel, The Royalist, Sykes commented, “Harry is very interested in the Cotswolds-it’s obviously where he grew up. He knows the roads around there, he knows the back roads very importantly, he knows the pubs, and he has a lot of friends in the area still.”
