Prince Harry and Meghan’s UK Home Expected to Prioritise Privacy Over Grandeur

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to move back to the United Kingdom after six years residing in the United States, in a relocation King Charles was informed of only recently. The couple, along with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, are said to have secured a private home outside London, with royal insiders predicting the Cotswolds as a likely location.

A property expert, speaking exclusively, suggested that the couple’s chosen residence may be more modest than expected, emphasising privacy and security over extravagance.

Cal Graham of We Buy Any Home explained the considerations that come with selecting a family home that prioritises discretion. Speaking to the Express, she said: “If the reports are accurate, the ideal property would probably be one that appears relatively unremarkable from the road but offers significant privacy inside.”

She added, “A modern house on a privately managed estate, set well back from the road and shielded by mature landscaping, would attract far less attention than a recognisable country mansion.”

Graham also noted that privacy isn’t solely about large grounds. “A smaller property with controlled access, secure off-road parking and no obvious public viewpoints could be far more discreet-and easier to manage-than a sprawling estate with multiple boundaries, entrances and outbuildings.”

To achieve this level of discretion, she emphasised the importance of design that prioritises privacy throughout both interior and exterior spaces.

Regarding property type, Cal recommended they might opt for a “high-quality rental on a professionally managed private estate” initially to allow time to adjust. Should they decide to purchase in the future, a modern, energy-efficient home outside central London would likely offer “the best balance of privacy, space and access to the city without the upkeep and public scrutiny often linked to historic estates.”

She concluded: “Their perfect home may not be the grandest; rather, it will be the one that allows them the most normal lifestyle.”

Royal reporter Tom Sykes suggested the couple may have chosen a property in the Cotswolds, a popular area for celebrities, or near Northampton, close to the Spencer family estate. During their recent UK visit, Harry and Meghan are believed to have spent time at Althorp House, the Grade I-listed childhood home of Princess Diana, Harry’s mother.

On his YouTube channel The Royalist, Sykes commented: “Harry is very interested in the Cotswolds-it’s where he grew up. He knows the area well, including the back roads and local pubs, and maintains many friendships there.”
