Prince Harry and Meghan Absent from Peter Phillips’ Wedding in Gloucestershire

The Royal family gathered on Saturday in the Gloucestershire village of Kemble for the private wedding of Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne and the late Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest grandson.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Zara and Mike Tindall, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were all in attendance at All Saints Church, where Peter Phillips exchanged vows with Harriet Sperling, an NHS nurse.

Notably absent from the ceremony were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Reports have been unclear about whether the Sussex family received invitations, with some sources suggesting they were excluded from the guest list entirely.

Peter Phillips and Prince Harry once shared a close relationship in their youth, but recent years have seen a distance grow between them. Harry’s move to the United States and public criticisms of the Royal family have contributed to this estrangement.

The wedding was attended by Peter Phillips’s daughters Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14, as well as Harriet Sperling’s teenage daughter Georgina. Stephanie Phillips, Peter’s half-sister and a bridesmaid at his first wedding, was also present.

All Saints Church, with its distinctive tall spire, is integral to Kemble’s village life. Peter Phillips resides nearby on the Gatcombe Park estate in Minchinhampton.

Peter Phillips, 48, is the son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips. He divorced his first wife Autumn in 2020 after 12 years of marriage, with whom he shares custody of their two children. The couple’s wedding in 2008 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, was a grand royal affair.

Peter’s engagement to Harriet Sperling, whom he began dating in 2024, was publicly announced last August. The couple recently attended Royal Ascot as guests of King Charles and Queen Camilla and took part in the traditional Royal carriage procession on the racecourse.

The wedding day coincided with the Epsom Derby, meaning the King and Queen had to leave promptly to attend the prestigious horse racing event, where they presented the winner’s trophy.
