Prince George Soothes Energetic Younger Brother Louis at Trooping the Colour

At the Trooping the Colour ceremony, Prince George was seen gently calming his spirited younger brother, Prince Louis. The two, along with their sister Charlotte, enjoyed the military flypast from Buckingham Palace’s balcony alongside the King, Queen, and their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Seven-year-old Louis, dressed sharply in a dark suit and red tie to match George, enthusiastically waved to the crowd gathered on The Mall, drawing delighted cheers. After briefly turning to his father, Louis resumed his energetic waving until George softly touched his arm to encourage a calmer gesture.

Despite this, Louis couldn’t resist a final enthusiastic wave as the family headed inside the palace at the end of the flypast. Earlier, the children had joined their mother and sister in a carriage ride to the Horse Guards Parade to watch the birthday celebrations for the King.

Louis has become known for his lively and playful personality during royal events. At the VE Day celebrations earlier this year, he amusingly mimicked George’s hair flicking and smoothing gestures. His cheeky antics have also been a highlight of previous Trooping the Colour ceremonies, including dancing during the Scots Guards’ march and making expressive faces.

At the King’s coronation service in May 2023, Louis showed typical youthful restlessness by yawning and fidgeting. This year marked Charles’ third Trooping the Colour parade, where the royal family honored the 241 victims of the recent tragic Air India plane crash by wearing black armbands.

The focus of this year’s Trooping was the King’s Colour of Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards, the sovereign’s bodyguard unit celebrating its 375th anniversary. Throughout it all, Prince Louis’s spirited charm and Prince George’s considerate guidance offered a touching glimpse of royal sibling dynamics.
