Police investigating the death of a woman in Gloucester have been granted an extension to question a suspect in connection with the case.
A woman in her 60s from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life following the death of an elderly woman on Sunday, 16 August.
Emergency services were called to a property on Elmgrove Road West in Hardwicke shortly before 4am after reports of a fire. Upon searching the property, officers found a woman in her 90s unconscious inside.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, including CPR, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
A police cordon remains in place at the scene as officers continue their enquiries into the incident.
Gloucestershire Police issued a statement saying: “A custody extension has been granted for a woman arrested in connection with the death of another woman following a house fire in Gloucester. Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are asking anyone with information which could assist to come forward.”
