Police Officer Seriously Injured in Single-Car Crash in Cheltenham

A police officer sustained serious injuries after the marked police car they were traveling in crashed into a wall on Hatherley Road, Cheltenham, late Monday night, January 12.

The two officers were responding to a welfare concern when the single-vehicle collision occurred around 11:30 pm. The driver of the police car was seriously injured and was transported to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where they remain under treatment. The passenger officer was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and has since been discharged.

Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the crash. Additional police units promptly continued the response to the initial welfare report.

Gloucestershire Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. A spokesperson stated, “A police officer is currently receiving treatment following a collision on Hatherley Road. We are actively working to understand the circumstances that led to this incident.”
