Gloucestershire Constabulary have issued a public appeal after a serious assault occurred in Cheltenham earlier this week. Police are seeking to speak to 44-year-old James Benson, known as Jamie, in connection with the incident.
The assault took place near the Winston Churchill Memorial Gardens and the Honeybourne Line at approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday, 19 August. Benson, who has no fixed address but is known to have links to Cheltenham, is described as being 6ft tall, of medium build, with black hair.
Detective Sergeant Jon Youdan of the Criminal Investigation Department stated: “Officers have followed multiple leads in an effort to locate Benson and are now appealing to the public for assistance.”

He added, “If anyone knows where Benson is, or sees him, please do not approach him. Instead, contact the police immediately by calling 999.”
Detective Sergeant Youdan also made a direct appeal to Benson: “I urge you to do the right thing and hand yourself in at your nearest police station.”
