Residents of Fairford should anticipate a significant increase in police presence this weekend due to a planned protest at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford base.
The demonstration, organised by three campaign groups-Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), Stop the War, and Fairford Action-is set to take place on Saturday, 15 August, from 1pm to 3pm. The protest focuses on opposition to the United States' military actions in Iran amid escalating tensions between the two countries.
Protesters assert that RAF Fairford has been utilised by the US military to launch attacks, and they note the frequent training manoeuvres observed involving military aircraft from the base.

In preparation for the event, Gloucestershire Police will increase their presence in the area to ensure public safety and order. Additionally, Gloucestershire County Council will implement several road closures to accommodate the demonstration, and residents are advised to check the council’s website for the latest updates on road accessibility.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: “We fully respect the fundamental democratic right to protest and have a strong record of facilitating peaceful demonstrations.
“While enabling lawful and peaceful protest, we must balance the rights to freedom of expression and assembly with the public’s right to go about their daily personal and professional activities without undue disruption.
“Consequently, we will not hesitate to take action against anyone engaging in unlawful conduct.
“Police officers have been liaising closely with the event organisers and a broad network of local and national partners. This engagement will continue throughout and following the protest.
