Police have stepped up patrols in the picturesque Cotswolds town of Lechlade following residents' complaints about off-road bikes causing disturbances. The Cotswolds neighbourhood policing team responded promptly after receiving reports of anti-social behaviour allegedly linked to off-road motorbikes.
PC Weston and PC Robinson focused their attention on areas along the river, where most incidents were reported, as well as throughout the town. Despite their thorough patrols, the officers did not observe any off-road bikes or related disturbances.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the team expressed their commitment to addressing community concerns: “Following reports of anti-social behaviour involving the riding of off-road bikes in and around the Lechlade area recently, PC Weston and PC Robinson have been out in the area this afternoon conducting high visibility patrols to try and locate those responsible.

“Officers have spent time patrolling the area of the river where most reports have been linked, as well as spending time through the town.
“During our time on patrol we can report that no off road bikes were seen or heard, however there was lots of good engagement with members of the public who were pleased we were in the area addressing their concerns and who we spoke to about the issues.

Official records from Gloucestershire Police indicate that in May, there was one reported incident of anti-social behaviour and one public order offence across Fairford and Lechlade. The increased patrols demonstrate the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and reassuring the community.
