Four men were arrested on the M5 motorway following a burglary in the Cotswolds earlier this week. Gloucestershire Police responded to a report from Nailsworth, Stroud, where offenders had forced entry into a property on Burma Road at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18. The suspects allegedly stole two sets of car keys and a BMW.
Police launched an investigation involving CCTV footage reviews and house-to-house inquiries. Their efforts led them to trace the suspects to the M5 in Devon. With support from Devon and Cornwall Police, the four men, all in their twenties, were detained near Cullompton on the motorway.
A witness reported being held in traffic at around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, noting that police and a helicopter were conducting searches in fields near the motorway. Traffic was stopped for at least 30 minutes during the operation.
