Gloucester police have implemented a dispersal order across the city centre this bank holiday weekend in response to a surge in drunken fights and disruptive behaviour.
The Section 34 dispersal order grants officers the authority to ask individuals to leave the designated area for up to 48 hours if their conduct is likely to alarm or distress the public. The order took effect at 2pm on Friday, May 22 and will remain active until 2pm on Sunday, May 24.
Geographically, the order covers a broad zone stretching from Black Dog Way and Gouda Way in the north down to St Ann Way and Trier Way in the south, while spanning east to Trier Way and west to Llanthony Road and Castle Meads Way.

This action follows multiple reports to police of intoxicated individuals engaging in fights, aggressive behaviour, abusive shouting, intimidation, and begging throughout the city centre.
Inspector James O’Neill of the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team emphasized the importance of a safe and enjoyable bank holiday for all residents and visitors. “We are committed to preventing behaviour that causes fear, damage, or disruption in our community,” he said. “Additional patrols will be deployed over the weekend to enforce the dispersal order and ensure compliance.”
