Police Clarify Presence of Armed Officers at Gloucester Flats

Armed officers were deployed to a block of flats on Westgate Street in Gloucester on the evening of Saturday, November 8, following reports of a threatening situation involving a group of men. At approximately 6:20 pm, police received an emergency call indicating that several men were making threats toward another individual, with claims they were armed.

Eyewitnesses saw six armed officers, including one equipped with a protective shield, alongside unarmed police at the scene. The armed officers remained on site for about 15 minutes before leaving.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed that the response was prompted by concerns over weapons reportedly in the possession of the men involved. However, after conducting thorough investigations and inquiries at the scene, officers determined that no incident consistent with the initial report had actually occurred.
