Police Arrest Man Following Screwdriver Attack in Gloucester

A man was hospitalized after being slashed with a screwdriver in Gloucester on the morning of Wednesday, May 6. Emergency services responded to reports of an assault on Station Road at approximately 7:15 a.m.

Witnesses noted a significant police presence near Bedford Street, adjacent to Station Road, during the incident. The victim sustained a slash wound and received hospital treatment before being discharged.

Liam Johnson, 44, who has no fixed address, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and wounding with intent. Johnson appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 7, and was remanded in custody pending a hearing at Gloucester Crown Court scheduled for June 8.

Gloucestershire Police are urging anyone who witnessed the attack or has relevant information to contact them, referencing incident number 84 of May 6. A police spokesperson confirmed that the victim was known to Johnson.
