Plans to construct a dozen homes at Oaksey Park Golf & Leisure, a nine-hole golf course in the scenic Cotswolds Lakes area, are slated for discussion by planners next week. Developer Cotswold Ecohomes aims to build 12 two-storey, three-bedroom houses crafted from traditional Cotswold stone.
Originally, planning permission was granted in 2005 for 12 holiday lodges—part of the fourth phase in the development of lodges at the site—but these lodges were never built. Earlier this year, the developer submitted an application to Wiltshire Council proposing homes specifically for residents aged 55 and over.
This plan faced objections from Oaksey Parish Council, which argued the village’s priority should be family housing rather than retirement homes. In response, the application was revised to include homes suitable for families.

The updated proposal, scheduled for review by the Northern Area Planning Committee on Wednesday, December 3, seeks approval for 12 market-value homes. Although affordable housing would typically be required for a development of this size, the developer intends to contribute nearly £350,000 to Wiltshire Council to support affordable housing projects elsewhere, allowing all homes on the site to be sold at market rates.
Wiltshire Council’s planning department recommends that councillors grant planning permission for the project, moving it closer to becoming a part of the picturesque Cotswolds landscape.
