Plan Unveiled for 26-Room Hotel and 10 Holiday Homes at Converted Cotswolds Farm

A new vision is emerging for Evenlode Ground Farm in the Cotswolds, with plans to convert existing agricultural buildings into a 26-room hotel and 10 holiday homes. The proposal aims to bring fresh tourism appeal while repurposing historic farm structures near Moreton-in-Marsh.

The application submitted to Cotswold District Council seeks prior approval for a change of use, transforming a barn into a commercial hotel space covering 937 square metres. Additionally, other farm buildings are set to be converted into holiday cottages—four with one bedroom and six with two bedrooms each.

Currently, the site includes three residences—The Marshes, The Stables, and Evenlode Farm House—alongside camping pods that accommodate visitors. To reduce reliance on private vehicles, the hotel plans to operate a shuttle service connecting guests to Moreton-in-Marsh railway station.

Parking provisions are carefully planned to meet demand, with 34 spaces allocated for hotel guests and staff, including two disabled bays. The holiday homes will offer an additional 16 parking spaces, one per bedroom.

The conversion project forms part of a broader farm diversification strategy. Site buildings, characterized by portal frames, blockwork walls, timber and metal cladding, and corrugated roofs, have long served agricultural purposes such as livestock rearing and cereal cultivation. The applicants emphasize a commitment to repurposing these structures in line with planning policies encouraging beneficial alternative uses.

Located south of Evenlode village, the farm is accessed via the rural Evenlode Road, linking to the A436 through the nearby villages of Evenlode and Adlestrop.

The full application details are accessible through the Cotswold District Council planning portal.
