Pigs on the Run: Police Round Up Escaped Swine in Stroud

A group of spirited pigs caused quite a stir in Stroud after escaping from a farm in Grange Fields. The farmyard escapees were first spotted leisurely trotting near Tesco, seemingly enjoying their unexpected freedom.

In response, Gloucestershire police swiftly mobilized a sizeable operation involving four officers, three police vehicles, and two community support officers. The pigs were tracked to Stratford Park and Beeches Green, where they indulged in some foraging and playful rooting.

Despite their playful defiance—wandering near a bandstand and strolling in front of cars, ignoring calls like Millicent and Pudding—the pigs were no match for police strategy. Officers skillfully used arm-waving tactics and barriers to corral the animals, ensuring their safe capture before they could stray too far.

A local farmer assisted by luring the pigs with food, helping to bring the escapade to a peaceful end. Owners suspect the swine may have been deliberately released.

Thanks to the quick and clever efforts of Gloucestershire Constabulary, the pigs were returned safely, their brief adventure coming to a close before any true mischief could take hold.
