Pedestrian Dies Following Collision with Car in Forest of Dean

A tragic incident occurred on the A4136 near Staunton in the Forest of Dean late on Friday, July 25, when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a car. Emergency services responded promptly to reports of a serious collision involving a vehicle and a man, who was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 11 p.m.

The victim, a man in his 50s, lost his life as a result of the collision. The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for assessment but has since been discharged. Gloucestershire Police have arrested the driver on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released on bail pending further inquiries.

Following the crash, authorities temporarily closed the road to allow collision investigators to examine the scene, but these closures have now been lifted.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. They are also seeking information from anyone who saw a person on the road between 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the area. Witnesses can submit information through an online form, quoting incident number 531 of July 25.
