A section of Noverton Lane in Prestbury, Cheltenham, will be temporarily closed for emergency repair work next month. From February 2 to February 10, Severn Trent Water will carry out critical repairs to an underground chamber, necessitating a partial road closure.
The closure will affect approximately 50 metres of Noverton Lane, specifically between the junctions of Beech Close and Finchcroft Lane. While vehicular access will be restricted during this period, pedestrian and emergency vehicle access will be maintained to ensure safety and convenience for local residents.
According to a road closure notice issued by Gloucestershire County Council on January 15, 2026, the closure is authorized under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The council states the closure is necessary to complete the essential works on behalf of Severn Trent and is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM on February 2, concluding by 5:00 PM on February 10.
If the repairs are not completed within this timeframe, the closure order may remain in effect for up to 18 months or until the work is finished, whichever occurs first. Detour routes will be clearly signed on site to guide motorists.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan accordingly during this period and to follow all signage posted near the closure area. Despite the disruption, emergency and pedestrian access will remain available throughout the works.
