The possibility of beavers returning to Gloucestershire has taken a significant step forward as Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and Forestry England advance the Severn Vale Beaver Project. This initiative aims to restore this native species to the county’s ecosystems. Building on a comprehensive feasibility study conducted by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, the project revealed ideal conditions for beaver reintroduction and strong community support, with 91 percent of survey respondents backing the return of beavers.
