Mary Margery Body, a dedicated GCHQ codebreaker who played a crucial role in cracking secret German messages during World War Two, has been posthumously honored with a blue plaque at her former Cheltenham home. Her invaluable contributions to British intelligence, largely unrecognized during her lifetime, are now celebrated as a testament to her quiet dedication and service. Recruited in 1940 by Dilwyn Knox, Mary worked at Bletchley Park’s The Cottage, where she contributed significantly to breaking the German Enigma codes.
