Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen Saddened by Vandalism of Historic Farm Pens

Amanda Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm and devoted mother of nine, left her followers heartbroken and angered after revealing distressing news from her farm. On Sunday, she took to Instagram to share footage she admitted she would usually avoid posting.

In her post, Amanda expressed her deep frustration: “Cross, cross, cross. This is not the normal kind of post I do. Not the kind of post that I want to do. I know that it will not make any difference whatsoever, but still I hope that someone, somewhere might feel a little uncomfortable or even ashamed.”

Amanda highlighted the historical importance of the location, saying, “These places are invaluable, a part of our history and heritage. They do not formally belong to anyone but have been used for centuries by shepherds, farmers, and commoners—and they are still in use today.”

The footage showed the damage that had been done. Amanda explained, “This is not a gap in the wall that can be remedied. At some point in the last few days, probably in the middle of the night, someone came to these pens on the border between Cumbria and Yorkshire. They have dug up and taken the flags out of the floor.”

She went on to describe the significance of the site: “This floor has stood the test of time for hundreds of years. This is a place with history, carefully maintained, where shepherds and farmers gather sheep and tend to strays.”

Amanda’s emotion was clear as she continued, “It is utterly upsetting. Someone has desecrated this ancient heritage site—whether for profit or carelessness. This type of act is inexcusable.”

Fans were quick to respond with sympathy and outrage in the comments section. One said, “People just don’t care anymore; they think they’re entitled to take whatever they want. It really boils my blood!” Another shared a similar experience: “Heartbreaking, Amanda. My husband had the same thing happen to his shop in Bradford. Thieves stripped the backyard of Yorkshire stone flags—they’re stolen because they fetch a good price.”

Others lamented the state of society, with comments such as, “Disgusting! This shows the breakdown of law and order in the UK,” and “That is just horrific! I’ll never understand how people can do such things.” Many echoed Amanda’s sadness: “That’s sad and disgusting in equal measure.”

This upsetting incident shines a light on the ongoing challenges of preserving rural heritage and the deep emotional connection communities have with places steeped in history.
