Reuben Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm and son of Amanda Owen, has responded succinctly to recent online backlash following a misunderstood video posted by his mother. The clip, which showed Reuben caring for a pregnant sheep in labor, was misinterpreted by some viewers as mistreatment.
Amanda shared the video on Instagram with the caption, “Caught ewe. Reuben downs tools and springs into action. Everyone lends a hand, there is no one exempt from lambing time tasks.” Despite this clarification, some misread the situation, prompting a wave of criticism directed at Reuben.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Reuben revealed he was unaware of the online controversy, explaining, “I don’t have the time or the inclination to scroll through social media.” He emphasized his preference for life on the farm over a social media presence, humorously adding, “If you do ever see me on my phone, I’ll be searching for machinery sales.”

Reuben also expressed his true ambition: “I don’t want a career on television, I want to be known as the guy who digs big holes; my current ambition is to buy a 50-ton excavator. Now that really would be the realization of a dream.”
Fans can look forward to seeing Reuben back on screen tonight in the new series of Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales, which airs at 8 pm on Channel 5. The show will also introduce his new girlfriend, Jessica Ellwood. Speaking to The Mirror, Reuben shared insights into their shared hobbies: “Last weekend we were felling trees. In terms of our hobbies, I think digging.” He joked, “Jess is very good on the digger. She’s better at driving a digger than I am milking cows.”
