One Dead in Serious Lorry Crash on A40 Near Northleach

Tragedy struck early Friday morning, July 18, when a fatal collision involving two lorries occurred on the A40 near Northleach. Emergency services responded to the crash at approximately 12:40 a.m.

The driver of one lorry, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to hospital for evaluation and has since been discharged.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody for questioning.

Due to the incident, the A40 London Road is closed at the Northleach roundabout, affecting the eastbound route towards Burford. The road closure is expected to last throughout the day.

Gloucestershire Police issued a statement confirming the details of the collision and advising motorists. Alternative routes are available for vehicles under 7.5 tonnes via Northleach; however, heavy goods vehicles must seek other diversions due to weight restrictions.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation by submitting information through the official police website, referencing incident 12 of July 18.
