Ofsted gives ‘Outstanding’ rating to The Cotswold School after 10 years

Following a full Ofsted inspection for the first time in 10 years, The Cotswold School in Bourton-on-the-Water has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating. The inspection, conducted over two days on March 11 and 12, 2025, involved extensive discussions with school leaders, faculty, and students, as well as classroom observations and review of students' work.

The report highlights the school’s high-quality teaching and ambitious curriculum, especially noting the exceptional careers program provided. It also emphasizes the success of sixth-form students in attaining excellent qualifications and experiences, fostering individual character development.

Ofsted commended the school’s unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality of education and its culture of celebrating diversity and individuality. The teaching staff were praised for their exceptional skills, subject knowledge, and clear explanation of concepts.

Feedback from parents, students, and staff contributed to the positive review, with 98% of respondents expressing their willingness to recommend The Cotswold School and 97% affirming their child’s happiness at the institution.
