Nursery Proposes Replacing Greenhouses with Up to Four Homes in Gloucestershire Village

Cornerways Nursery, located in Hillend just outside the village of Twyning in Gloucestershire, has submitted a planning application to Tewkesbury Borough Council seeking permission in principle to replace existing greenhouses with up to four new homes. The nursery lies off a private access road from Hillend Road and has already received principle approval for up to two dwellings nearby in a separate application.

Applicants Mr. and Mrs. Williams are requesting the council’s preliminary approval for the scheme before submitting more detailed plans. The 0.4-hectare site currently houses greenhouses and sits just behind two properties known as The Pippins on Hillend Road. Apart from a paddock to the east, the site is surrounded primarily by residential homes.

In the planning statement prepared by SFP Planning on behalf of the Williams family, it is noted that Twyning village offers a range of local amenities within easy walking and cycling distance, including a primary school, village hall, pubs, a post office, and a shop. Additionally, the area benefits from an extensive network of public footpaths and access to Gloucestershire County Council’s The Robin bus service.

The proposed homes would include parking and gardens, and plots are designed to accommodate secure cycle storage to promote sustainable transport options. The application highlights that the site is a sustainable, non-isolated location within Hillend, closely connected to the service village of Twyning. The development aims to contribute to local housing supply while bringing economic and social benefits to the community.
