Nine Players to Depart Cheltenham Town as Retained List Unveiled

Cheltenham Town has announced the release of nine players this summer as the club confirms its retained list ahead of the new season. Among those leaving are Jordan Thomas, Luke Young, and Arkell Jude-Boyd, who will not be returning to Whaddon Road.

Additional departures include Tommy Backwell, Scot Bennett, George Harmon, Tom King, Josh Martin, and Cameron Walters, all set to leave upon the expiration of their contracts.

In positive news for the Robins, key midfielder Ben Stevenson has secured a new deal following an impressive first season under manager Steve Cotterill. Furthermore, defenders Jonathan Tomkinson and George Nurse have had contract extension options exercised by the club.

Cheltenham Town has extended new contract offers to George Miller, Ryan Broom, Freddy Willcox, and Harry Tustin, who will be assessing their futures with the League One side.

Centre-backs James Wilson and Robbie Cundy have also activated appearance-based clauses in their contracts, ensuring their continued presence in the squad for the upcoming campaign.

Goalkeeper Joe Day, forward Jake Bickerstaff, along with Mamadou Diallo and Sopuruchukwu Obieri, remain under contract and are expected to feature in Cheltenham’s plans moving forward.

The club’s six loanees—Harry Ashfield, Josh Davison, Cole Deeming, Mo Faal, Isaac Hutchinson, and Sam Sherring—have all returned to their parent clubs, concluding their temporary spells at Cheltenham.

These changes mark a significant reshaping of the squad as Cheltenham Town prepares for the challenges ahead in the forthcoming season.
