Nigel Havers Steals the Spotlight on Sunday Brunch Before Leaving Early

This Sunday on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, renowned actor Nigel Havers captured the audience’s attention before an early exit left viewers wanting more. The show featured a star-studded lineup including Chris McCausland, Ben Miller, Chris and Rosie Ramsey, Nigel Havers, and Jack Savoretti on 7th December.

At the start of the program, host Tim Lovejoy informed viewers that Havers would need to leave early to fulfill professional obligations. During his brief but memorable interview with Tim and Simon Rimmer, Havers discussed his upcoming live show, Talking B**cks, set to debut next year.

In addition to this, Nigel is busy with his tenth consecutive year performing in the London Palladium’s annual pantomime, Sleeping Beauty. This year, he stars as The Keeper of the Privy alongside a celebrated cast that includes Catherine Tate, Julian Clary, Paul Zerdin, and Rob Madge.

Reflecting on his long-running involvement in the panto, Havers joked, “I don’t know. For the money, really.” He shared how the show started with friends Julian Clary and Paul Zerdin and has become a beloved tradition ever since. He also revealed that it was his idea to introduce the pantomime to the Palladium, pitching it to the theatre’s owner, Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Havers reminisced about humorous moments on stage, including forgetting lyrics during the grand finale and enjoying “the best martini in the world” after each performance. He described the production as “the most expensive panto ever made” and praised Catherine Tate’s extraordinary performance this year, which he says “makes the whole place go wild.”

Despite leaving early to make it to his Sunday matinee, Nigel Havers clearly made a strong impression on Sunday Brunch viewers at home. Comments on social media praised his charm and storytelling skills, with one remarking, “Nigel Havers is stealing the show. He’s a great raconteur.” Another viewer admitted they had never taken him seriously before but found him “a scream,” while a third said, “Couldn’t help it. Had to watch Nigel Havers on Sunday Brunch. Have always liked him.”

Sunday Brunch continues to air on Channel 4 every Sunday from 10am.
