Nick Hendrix Expands Career Beyond Midsomer Murders with New Film Role

Nick Hendrix, the talented actor best known for his role as DS Jamie Winter in the long-running ITV detective series Midsomer Murders, is set to explore new horizons in the film industry. At 40, Hendrix has secured a role in an upcoming movie that promises to showcase a different dimension of his acting abilities.

In this new project, Hendrix will star alongside Isabel May, famous for her performance in the Yellowstone prequel 1883, and Archie Renaux, known for The Jetty. Hendrix will portray Wheels in a story that revolves around Jack, played by KJ Apa of Riverdale, whose romantic life becomes entangled with Jillian (Isabel May). Unknown to Jack, his best friend Johnny (Archie Renaux) harbors feelings for Jillian as well.

Deadline reports that the film explores Jack’s emotional journey, describing him as “quick-witted, charming, and avoidant” who eventually opens his heart to Jillian, only to face unforeseen complications when Johnny also falls for her.

While specific details about Hendrix’s character Wheels remain under wraps, IMDb lists him alongside co-stars Emma Laird, Sophie Simnett, and Alex Jarrett. Gulfstream Pictures, the production company, expressed excitement about the stellar cast and the project’s potential to connect with audiences worldwide.

Despite this new venture, Hendrix reassures fans that his commitment to Midsomer Murders remains strong. In a 2020 interview with Express.co.uk, he reflected on his future with the series, stating, “There are so few negatives to doing it that it would be a really hard job to turn down.” He also hinted that although he doesn’t plan to stay indefinitely, his positive experiences and relationships on the show make it an important part of his career.

Co-star Neil Dudgeon, who plays DCI John Barnaby, also addressed rumours about his departure from Midsomer Murders. Speaking on This Morning, Dudgeon dispelled speculation, confirming that he is still part of the show’s future while maintaining a lighthearted tone about the rumours.

For fans eager to catch up on Midsomer Murders, the series is available to stream on ITVX.
