A new independent music festival is set to make its debut in Gloucestershire this month, promising a “unique” experience for attendees at a charming rural setting. Days In The Sun will take place over three days, from September 18 to 20, on fields of Newbliss Farm, located between Gloucester and Newent.
The festival, which is camping and dog friendly, will welcome up to 500 guests. It focuses on folk and roots music, aiming to offer attendees a rich cultural experience. Organisers Caitlin Barrett and Paul Chief O’Neill envision the event as a “unique journey into the future of Gloucestershire’s festival scene,” featuring an eclectic mix of performers across various art forms.
Performances will occur under cover inside a circus marquee that will also house a bar, providing an intimate and vibrant atmosphere. Beyond musical acts, the festival will include belly dancers, Morris sides, Irish dancers, and drumming groups. Open mic sessions will be available, inviting attendees to share their own talents and engage with the artistic community.

Camping facilities will be on site, complete with showers, and a range of traders and vendors will offer food and merchandise to enhance the festival experience.
Paul explained, “Our festival’s name is inspired by the Roving Crows’ song ‘Days In The Sun,’ which encourages living one’s dreams. This festival creates a space where individuals and groups can reach their artistic potential.”
He added, “The event is designed to be dog friendly and provides a safe haven for artists of all ages and levels. Our secondary venue hosts open music sessions, offering musicians a welcoming environment to express themselves, showcase their talents, and connect with fellow music lovers.”
Both Caitlin and Paul bring over two decades of experience in programming, curating, and managing events, shaping their vision for this bespoke festival.
Paul commented, “Whether you are an established artist, an aspiring one, or simply a lover of the arts, Days In The Sun welcomes you to join a growing community of like-minded people sharing their creativity, thoughts, and ambitions.”
The festival’s line-up boasts notable acts including Skipinnish, the celebrated Scottish folk-rock band known for their hit “Walking on the Waves,” which has amassed three million views on YouTube and over ten million streams on Spotify. Other performers feature PerKelt, Roving Crows, Babajack, Rusty Shackle, The Dolmen, and Dub Catalyst.
Ticket prices are set at £40 for a single adult day pass and £80 for the full weekend. Camping fees are £10 per tent and £30 for campervans. For families, children aged five to 17 can attend for £15 per day or £30 for the full weekend, while children under five enter free.
