Roman Gunko, a 22-year-old entrepreneur originally from Ukraine, has recently opened Captain of Sweets in the heart of Gloucester. His inspiration for the shop came from a trip to Europe where he observed the popularity of pick ‘n’ mix stores.
The former carpenter has been overwhelmed by the positive response from the public. His sweet shop has charmed both young customers with a penchant for sweets and adults seeking nostalgia for their childhood favorites.
Roman shared, “After visiting a pick ‘n’ mix store in France, I realized that Gloucester lacked a similar offering. I wanted to bring the same fun and vibrancy of the European shop here, creating a unique and enjoyable experience for our customers.”
