New Sweet Shop and Eyewear Store Enhance Gloucester Quays Shopping Experience

Gloucester Quays shopping centre has welcomed two exciting new retailers, further enriching the shopping and leisure experience for visitors. Classic confectionery destination Mr Simms Sweet Shop and stylish Brand Eyewear have both opened their doors, adding variety and vibrancy to the popular retail hub.

Mr Simms Sweet Shop has taken a prime 2,117 square foot unit at the heart of Gloucester Quays, marking its third location in the South West. Founded in 2004 in Leek, Mr Simms offers a delightful mix of traditional and contemporary sweets, with around 60 branches across the UK.

Meanwhile, Brand Eyewear has launched a 505 square foot boutique, featuring an impressive selection of designer frames from renowned brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, and DKNY. The store also boasts a unique ‘lens bar’ where shoppers can experiment with different lens colors, reflection coatings, and frame materials—making it a standout destination for style and function.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, expressed enthusiasm about the new arrivals: “The openings of Mr Simms Sweet Shop and Brand Eyewear highlight the diverse shopping experience Gloucester Quays is known for. As a crossover outlet, we aim to meet every customer’s needs and desires, transforming each visit into a full day out. These additions strengthen our commitment to offering exceptional retail options alongside an array of food, beverage, and leisure experiences.”

Renee Broughton Johnson, founder of Brand Eyewear, shared her excitement: “Opening our first store at Gloucester Quays is a milestone for Brand Eyewear. Location is key for introducing new retail concepts, and Gloucester Quays stands out as the perfect place to demonstrate our exceptional customer service and quality, affordable products. We already feel at home in Gloucester’s premier outlet destination.”

These store launches follow the announcement earlier this year of three new dining venues at Gloucester Quays: Banchina Italian, French fusion Muse Brasserie, and COSMO Restaurant Group’s Umami, set to open this summer.

Adding to the centre’s family-friendly appeal, Clip ‘n Climb opened in February, offering 19 climbing walls and interactive challenges, including the “Tree Trunk” and “Speed Climb.” Play Den, a four-level soft play area for younger children, and the on-site South Ridge Cafe further support a full day out for visitors of all ages.

Last year, Gloucester Quays also welcomed an exciting range of new brands like Søstrene Grene, Ben Sherman, Label Yard, and MenKind, continuing its reputation as a vibrant retail and leisure destination.
