New Sweet Shop and Eyewear Store Enhance Gloucester Quays Shopping Experience

Gloucester Quays shopping centre continues to grow as two exciting new retailers—Mr Simms Sweet Shop and Brand Eyewear—open their doors, adding to the vibrant shopping and leisure destination.

Mr Simms Sweet Shop, a confectionery pioneer founded in 2004 in Leek, has launched its third South West branch within a spacious 2,117 sq ft unit at the heart of Gloucester Quays. Known for its blend of traditional and contemporary sweets, Mr Simms boasts around 60 locations across the UK, delighting customers with nostalgic and modern treats alike.

Alongside this, Brand Eyewear has debuted a 505 sq ft store featuring a curated selection of eyewear from premium brands including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, and DKNY. Shoppers can enjoy a unique ‘lens bar’ experience, allowing them to explore lens colors, reflection coatings, and frame materials to find the perfect fit.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, emphasized the significance of these openings: “Mr Simms Sweet Shop and Brand Eyewear exemplify the diverse retail mix Gloucester Quays is celebrated for. Our role as a crossover outlet means catering to every shopper’s desires and needs. These new additions reinforce our promise to deliver exceptional retail options, enhance visitor experiences, and continue creating a full day-out environment alongside our broad food, beverage, and leisure selections.”

For Brand Eyewear’s founder, Renee Broughton Johnson, opening at Gloucester Quays marked a milestone. “Choosing Gloucester Quays for our first store was key. The location offers a prime platform to showcase our commitment to excellent customer service and quality products. We already feel at home within Gloucester’s premier outlet destination.”

These new store openings complement Gloucester Quays’ recent string of developments this year, including the announcement of three new dining venues: Banchina Italian, Muse Brasserie offering French fusion cuisine, and the upcoming COSMO Restaurant Group’s Umami, set to open this summer.

Further enhancing the family-friendly environment, the centre introduced Clip ‘n Climb earlier this year, a multi-level climbing attraction featuring 19 walls and inventive challenges such as the “Tree Trunk” and “Speed Climb.” Young visitors can also enjoy Play Den, a four-level soft play area, alongside South Ridge Cafe’s onsite refreshments.

Building on last year’s arrivals—which included popular brands like Søstrene Grene, Ben Sherman, Label Yard, and MenKind—Gloucester Quays remains a dynamic and evolving destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
