Gloucester Quays shopping centre has welcomed two exciting new additions: the nostalgic Mr Simms Sweet Shop and the stylish Brand Eyewear store. These openings further enrich the retail experience at the popular shopping destination.
Mr Simms Sweet Shop has taken a spacious 2,117 sq ft central unit, marking its third branch in the South West. Established in 2004 in Leek, Mr Simms offers a delightful selection of both traditional and modern confectionery, operating around 60 stores across the UK.
Brand Eyewear has launched its 505 sq ft outlet, showcasing premium sunglasses and optical frames from renowned brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, and DKNY. Unique to the store is its innovative ‘lens bar,’ allowing customers to customize lens color, coatings, and frame materials.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, highlighted the importance of these new openings: “Mr Simms Sweet Shop and Brand Eyewear strengthen Gloucester Quays’ diverse retail offering. Catering to a wide range of desires and needs creates a vibrant environment, turning the centre into a full day-out destination that combines shopping, dining, and leisure.”
Brand Eyewear’s founder, Renee Broughton Johnson, expressed enthusiasm for the new location: “Launching our first store at Gloucester Quays is a significant milestone. The centre’s prominence and strong retail environment make it the perfect place to introduce Brand Eyewear’s exceptional customer service and high-quality products. We already feel part of the Gloucester community here.”
These new stores complement earlier announcements of three exciting new dining options at Gloucester Quays this year—Banchina Italian, Muse Brasserie (offering French fusion cuisine), and Umami by COSMO Restaurant Group, set to open this summer. The centre also recently added Clip ‘n Climb, a family-friendly climbing attraction featuring 19 walls, including unique challenges like the “Tree Trunk” and “Speed Climb,” plus Play Den, a four-level soft play area, and the onsite South Ridge Cafe.
Last year saw the arrival of other popular brands such as Søstrene Grene, Ben Sherman, Label Yard, and MenKind, demonstrating Gloucester Quays' ongoing commitment to providing a dynamic mix of retail and leisure offerings.
