A new Starbucks drive-thru in Kingsway, Gloucester, has reached practical completion, marking a significant milestone in the redevelopment of a former RAF base. This coffee outlet is part of an ambitious masterplan to transform the 340-acre site into a thriving community.
The expansive redevelopment project includes plans for 3,300 homes, a 40-acre employment zone, community and leisure facilities, retail outlets, sports amenities, and a primary school. The 1,744 sq ft Starbucks drive-thru and coffee shop is strategically located at the entrance to Kingsway on Naas Lane.
Developed by Robert Hitchins, a Boddington-based property and investment company, in partnership with contractors EG Carter, the new Starbucks forms the final phase of the Kingsway commercial centre. Michael Plimmer, senior development manager at Robert Hitchins, highlighted the significance of this addition: “The new Starbucks Drive Thru represents the culmination of our commercial development efforts at Kingsway. It’s exciting to see Starbucks join other major brands like Asda, Lidl, Pure Gym, B&M, MKM, and Greene King, providing exceptional shopping and leisure options for the local community.”

We look forward to serving the community and offering career opportunities for local residents.”
EG Carter, which has been working on the site since June 2025, praised the project’s successful progress. Thomas Jones, construction director at EG Carter, said, “Reaching practical completion is a proud moment for all involved. This project has been delivered through excellent collaboration with Robert Hitchins Ltd and the wider team. The quality of the finished building reflects our commitment to excellence.”
