Cheltenham’s vibrant dining scene is set for a fresh addition this Friday, June 13, with the opening of La Petite Bar and Grill on the bustling A40 London Road. This new venue, occupying the former Koloshi and Gagan site near Dunkerton’s and the reservoir just outside Charlton Kings, will serve as the ‘big sister’ to the well-established La Petite Brasserie in Cheltenham’s High Street.
Owned and led by celebrated chef and restaurateur Ram Jalustram, La Petite Bar and Grill offers a distinct new culinary experience while complementing the existing brasserie. Ram, whose impressive résumé includes Executive Head Chef roles at four of Gordon Ramsay’s London establishments and the prestigious five-star Gleneagles Hotel, brings a wealth of expertise and passion to the new restaurant.
The menu promises a unique culinary journey called Six By Ram, featuring six courses that blend French, Anglo, and Asian influences. The restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner and will feature an enticing Early Bird menu as well as a traditional Sunday lunch.

Expressing his excitement, Ram Jalustram said, “I can’t wait to open on Friday. We’ve crafted a menu that embraces modern dining trends, and we’re particularly inspired by our cocktail selection and thoughtfully curated wine list.”
Signature dishes include a delicate crab and prawn tian starter priced at £13 and a perfectly seared stone bass fillet for £26. The Early Bird menu, available until 5.30 pm, offers three courses with a glass of Prosecco for £39. Choices include hand-dived scallops and pan-roast pigeon starters, with main courses such as lamb, duck breast sarladaise, and poached white fillet of salmon.
The site holds a recent yet eventful history—Gagan opened on the same site only last November but closed after four months. Ram reflected on the legacy, stating, “I’ve always admired what Koloshi and then Gagan contributed to Cheltenham’s food culture. However, we’re now taking the dining experience in a very different and exciting direction.”
