A new culinary experience is coming to the Cotswolds with the opening of ‘You Me and Umami,’ a Pan-Asian restaurant and take-away, in the historic old Red Lion pub building in Lechlade. This iconic High Street building, dating back to 1881, will welcome its first guests on Thursday, December 4.
Prior to the official launch, the restaurant will host a free preview event on Wednesday evening from 5pm to 8pm. Visitors can enjoy complimentary glasses of bubbly, sample a variety of delicious Pan-Asian nibbles, and explore the beautifully restored space in a relaxed meet-and-greet atmosphere open to all.
Founder and owner Foyez Rahman, also known for Sasa’s Indian Kitchen and Bar in Crudwell, Wiltshire, brings to Lechlade a diverse menu inspired by Korean, Japanese, and Malay cuisines. The dishes highlight top-quality ingredients—including locally sourced fish, shellfish, meat, and vegetables—ensuring freshness and authenticity.

Rahman expressed his enthusiasm about the project: “Since announcing our plans and seeking local staff, the Lechlade community has been incredibly supportive and welcoming. The food we offer reflects the flavors I have grown to love both here in the UK and through my travels. We believe the people of Lechlade and the surrounding area will truly enjoy our unique Pan-Asian offerings. We’re thrilled to bring this culinary venture to such a historic location.”
