A major new addition to Gloucester’s city centre has arrived just in time for the festive season—a state-of-the-art multi-storey car park with 398 spaces opened its doors on Monday, December 22. Managed by Q-Park and situated on Station Road, this cutting-edge facility forms part of The Forum development, a £107 million project led by Gloucester City Council in partnership with Reef + Partners.
The car park boasts 38 electric vehicle (EV) charging points with plans to expand this capacity, alongside 15 disabled parking spaces. It offers 24/7 barrier-controlled, ticketless parking with convenient online pre-booking, ensuring smooth access for shoppers, workers, and residents alike.
One of the standout features of this new parking structure is its impressive 600-square-metre living wall—a vertical garden that envelops two sides of the building. Comprising more than 4,800 panels with 48,000 individual plants, this green installation captures carbon equivalent to 32 mature trees, enhancing urban biodiversity, improving air quality, and naturally regulating the building’s temperature by providing cooling during warmer months.

Councillor Jeremy Hilton, leader of Gloucester City Council, said: “The opening of the car park marks a significant milestone in our city centre transformation. It responds directly to the strong demand for modern, secure, and sustainable parking, particularly with electric vehicle facilities, and comes at the perfect time for the Christmas shopping season.”
The Forum is reshaping Gloucester’s heart with 135,000 square feet of Grade A office space, a four-star Hotel Indigo by IHG Hotels, contemporary residential apartments, and a range of retail outlets. The car park also provides pedestrian access to Cathedral Walk, an attractive public space featuring local Forest of Dean stones and landscaping inspired by Gloucester’s rich Roman, medieval, and late Victorian heritage.
Peter Langly-Smith, managing director of Reef + Partners, added: “We chose Q-Park because of their reputation for delivering secure, clean, and innovative facilities. Their Gloucester car park perfectly supports The Forum’s vision by providing essential parking that is sustainable and accessible, seamlessly connecting offices, living spaces, and retail areas with the wider Kings Quarter.”
Adam Bidder, Managing Director of Q-Park UK, expressed excitement over the launch: “Opening our first facility in Gloucester within such a prestigious development demonstrates our commitment to quality service and innovation. We look forward to welcoming drivers and supporting the city’s growth.”
Pricing starts at £2.70 for up to two hours and £12 for up to 24 hours, offering flexible and affordable options for all visitors.
