Opening this September, HYLL hotel invites guests to experience the serene beauty of a meticulously restored 17th-century manor house nestled within 60 acres of meadows, woodlands, and sweeping Cotswolds hills. Located in Charingworth, near Chipping Campden, HYLL offers a refined yet unpretentious hospitality experience, encouraging visitors to treat the hotel as their home away from home. Room rates start at £350 per night.
The Grade II-listed main house, along with its adjacent outbuildings, carries a rich history—it was often visited by poet T. S. Eliot during his stays in the region. Each room is thoughtfully designed with tactile materials such as hand-finished plaster, Cotswold stone, aged metals, and weathered timber, evoking a sense of understated elegance. Bedrooms maintain a minimalist layout, allowing unobstructed views and featuring carefully curated details. The estate also showcases a growing sculpture collection spread across its grounds.
The name HYLL, derived from the Old English word for “elevated place,” reflects the hotel’s tranquil ambiance—a peaceful retreat lifted gently from the rush of everyday life. Central to the hotel is a relaxed restaurant helmed by chef Mark Coleman, offering a dynamic menu inspired by local farms, mills, and distilleries. The cuisine emphasizes fresh, local produce with simple, skillful preparation.

Guests are invited to embrace a leisurely rhythm during their stay—whether that means enjoying a vinyl record with phones tucked away, indulging in a restful nap by the fire, or sipping a quiet drink on the terrace overlooking the Malvern Hills. The estate itself offers ample opportunities for gentle exploration, with accessible fields, woodlands, and secluded benches. A monthly Sunday walk followed by a communal lunch welcomes both guests and locals alike.
HYLL fosters cultural connection through its partnership with Borzoi Books, providing a curated in-room reading selection and hosting a supper club series featuring authors, artists, and intimate four-course conversations. The hotel also champions British craftsmanship and independent brands, offering guests Verden toiletries—featuring a signature HYLL scent—Private White VC jackets for countryside walks, Grind coffee machines, and locally crafted ceramics.
Wellness is integral to the HYLL experience, with specialist Kathryn McCusker designing in-room guided meditations, sound baths, and breathwork sessions tailored to guests’ needs. Seasonal events, a ‘Meet the Makers’ series on social media, and a festive ‘12 Days of Christmas’ program further enhance the guest experience throughout the year.
Looking to the future, HYLL plans to unveil a new events barn in 2026. Designed by Tim Groom Architects using local stone and timber, this venue will accommodate weddings, performances, and private gatherings, seating up to 150 guests while framing panoramic views of the stunning countryside.
