A new bus service is set to restore vital connections between Thornbury, Yate, and several outlying villages following service reductions in 2023. The initiative, launched as part of the WestLink trial, aims to improve public transport accessibility and support local residents who rely on these routes for work, education, and daily activities.
The reinstated route marks a significant development after last year’s cuts left many communities with limited options. MP Claire Young praised the move, highlighting its importance for social mobility and economic growth in the region. She emphasized that reliable transport links are critical to reconnecting towns and fostering a stronger sense of community across the affected areas.
WestLink’s pilot program will run for an initial trial period, during which passenger feedback will help shape potential long-term services. Local authorities hope that restoring these connections will encourage greater use of public transport, reduce traffic congestion, and contribute to environmental goals.
