Herefordshire Council is set to invest nearly a million pounds in refurbishing key parts of Hereford College of Arts' main campus. The council is currently inviting contractors to bid for a project valued at £950,000 to replace deteriorating flat roofs at the College Road campus.
Scheduled to take place between January and July next year, the refurbishment will involve removing the existing failing flat roofs and installing new bitumen felt coverings. Additionally, the project includes replacing roof lights and carrying out related works, pending listed building consent.
Contractors interested in participating must submit their expressions of interest by December 5.

Abigail Appleton, Principal and Chief Executive of Hereford College of Arts, emphasized the importance of the project in resolving existing roof issues. She noted that the college leases most of its buildings from the council, with the campus housing honours degree, postgraduate masters, and foundation diploma programs in art and design.
“We are very pleased that this essential work is underway to ensure that teaching and learning spaces remain safe and operational,” Ms. Appleton said.
Herefordshire Council has been approached for further comment.
