National Lottery results for Wednesday, 5 August with £6.8 million jackpot

National Lottery players eagerly anticipated the Wednesday, 5 August draw, featuring a £6.8 million jackpot.

Earlier last month, the National Lottery introduced an exciting new format aimed at increasing players’ chances of winning. According to the organisers: “New Lotto is here and it’s twice as exciting. Each Wednesday and Saturday Lotto draw will feature two rounds.”

This means every line of numbers you play offers two chances to win a prize - all for the same price. The revised format is expected to more than double the number of millionaires created.

Players who match all six numbers in either round can claim the jackpot, which is shared across both rounds. While this increases the opportunity to win, it also raises the possibility of jackpots being shared among multiple winners.

The Wednesday draw took place at 8pm, followed by the Thunderball draw at 8.15pm, which offered a prize of £500,000.

Lotto draws are held twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Additionally, EuroMillions draws occur every Tuesday and Friday, while Set For Life draws take place every Monday and Thursday.

Here are the winning numbers for Wednesday’s draws:

Round 1: 47, 27, 50, 39, 24, 26; Bonus ball: 8.

Round 2: 14, 29, 12, 59, 16, 22; Bonus ball: 58.

Thunderball: 16, 21, 37, 12, 20; Thunderball: 2.
