Murder Investigation Underway in Gloucester Following Fatal Stabbing

Gloucestershire Police have launched a murder investigation after a man in his 80s was fatally stabbed in Gloucester on the evening of July 2nd. Officers responded to a call at approximately 9 pm concerning an injured individual at a property on Alney Terrace.

Emergency services quickly transported the victim to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police have confirmed that the deceased’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.

A man in his 50s, also from Gloucester, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and currently remains in police custody. Authorities stated that the victim and the suspect were known to each other.

The Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) is leading the early stages of the inquiry, maintaining a strong police presence in the area while evidence is gathered.

Chief Superintendent Rebecca Love addressed community concerns, stating, “We understand the alarm this incident has caused locally. We believe there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officers will continue proactive patrols and conduct house-to-house inquiries.”
