Gloucestershire Police have initiated a murder investigation following a suspected stabbing incident in Gloucester on the evening of July 2.
Emergency responders were called to a property on Alney Terrace at approximately 9pm after reports of someone being injured inside. An elderly man in his 80s was found with suspected stab wounds and was rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Tragically, he passed away from his injuries shortly afterward.
Authorities have informed the victim’s next of kin, who are currently receiving support from specially trained police officers.

A Gloucester man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Officials confirmed the two men were known to each other.
The Major Crime Investigation Team is conducting the initial phases of the inquiry, with a continued police presence at the scene to support ongoing investigations.
Chief Superintendent Rebecca Love addressed the community, stating, “We understand the concern this incident has caused locally. We want to assure everyone that there is no wider threat to the public.” Police will maintain proactive patrols and carry out house-to-house inquiries in the area.
