Murder Investigation Ongoing in Gloucester Following Triple Stabbing

A serious criminal investigation is underway in Gloucester city centre after a triple stabbing incident resulted in the death of one man. The event occurred at an address on Bedford Street, prompting a significant emergency response on Wednesday, May 28.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed that one man sustained fatal injuries and died in hospital around midday. While his formal identification is pending, authorities believe they know his identity and are in the process of informing his family.

The crime scene remains active, with Station Road closed to traffic as of this morning according to traffic monitoring service Inrix. Police presence has been heightened throughout the city centre to ensure public safety and reassurance.

Armed officers arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of murder at approximately 8:10 am on Chequer’s Road. After receiving hospital treatment, he was discharged and taken into police custody.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police stated: “The Major Crime Investigation Team has launched a full murder inquiry, and a forensic post mortem examination is scheduled. Two other men, who were also stabbed, are currently hospitalized, but their injuries are not life-threatening.”

Assistant Chief Constable Arman Mathieson addressed community concerns: “We recognize how unsettling this incident has been for residents. The incident was confined to one address, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Police resources are fully committed to investigating and reassuring the community.”

Mathieson added that neighbourhood police teams will carry out high-visibility patrols across Gloucester, encouraging anyone with concerns to speak with officers.
