Munster Overwhelms Gloucester with Second-Half Surge in Champions Cup

Munster delivered a commanding performance to defeat an inexperienced Gloucester team 31-3 in their 2025/26 Champions Cup clash at Cork. After a scrappy and error-filled first half that ended with Munster leading 7-3 thanks to Dan Kelly’s 21st-minute try, the Irish side exploded into life after the interval.

Scrum-half Craig Casey was the standout star, orchestrating Munster’s second-half resurgence. His dynamic play helped Munster score four additional tries through Mike Haley, Ruadhan Quinn, Tom Farrell, and Tadhg Beirne, securing the maximum five points from the match and leaving Gloucester empty-handed.

Munster’s dominance was further aided by crucial yellow cards against Gloucester’s Jamal Ford-Robinson and Caio James, who were temporarily sidelined for a dangerous clear-out and for going off their feet, respectively. This victory was exactly the response Munster needed following their heavy 40-14 defeat to Bath in the opening round at the Recreation Ground.
