Mum and Gran ‘Loved Beyond Words’ Among 20 Remembered in Gloucestershire Death Notices

Honouring the lives of those we have lost through public death notices is a cherished tradition in Gloucestershire. Each week, we proudly share announcements from families who entrust us with remembering their loved ones, preserving their memories in print and online. Every notice published through our newspaper and on funeral-notices.co.uk—the UK’s leading site for death notices and memorials—provides a lasting tribute, accessible forever as a sacred space for memories, tributes, photographs, and donations.

Here, we share a selection of heartfelt notices from the past week, remembering 20 beloved individuals from our community.

Among them is Sue (née Chitty) — a bright light deeply loved by her family, including her husband Pat, children Steven and Vicky, and granddaughter Imogen. Sue’s life will be celebrated on 29th January at Cheltenham Crematorium, with donations welcomed for the Vale Wildlife Hospital. Another treasured figure is Madge, who peacefully died aged 100. Her family remembers her lovingly as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with a funeral Mass scheduled at St Gregory’s Church, Cheltenham.

We also honour others including Tony Barrett, dearly missed by siblings and nieces; Rog, loving husband and father; and Kathleen, who will be fondly remembered for her warmth and generosity. The notices reflect lives rich in family, friendship, and service, such as Terence, twice Mayor and Sheriff of Gloucester, and Eric, remembered for his devotion to family.

Funeral services and memorial details are listed for each, offering opportunities for community involvement and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to charities connected to their interests—such as British Heart Foundation, Dementia UK, and Sue Ryder—are often requested, extending their legacies in meaningful ways.

These tributes remind us of the beauty of life, the pain of loss, and the enduring strength of memory. Our thoughts remain with all families during their times of sorrow.
