Motorway Overpass Closure for Resurfacing: Diversion Routes Lead Through Worcestershire

Starting Thursday, June 18, a key motorway overpass bridge near junction 2 of the M50 will be closed for resurfacing works, lasting five days with a break over the weekend. The closure affects a half-mile stretch of the A417 Ledbury Road up to the M50 Bridge, between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily through to Wednesday, June 24.

Due to the closure, drivers will need to follow an official diversion that routes traffic north from the Cook’s Lane junction into Worcestershire, passing Camer’s Green. From there, the route loops back down along the B4208, crosses the M50 again near Pendock, and returns into Gloucestershire via Pendock Road. While shorter alternative routes exist, Gloucestershire County Council recommends this diversion as the safest and most suitable option for vehicles requiring similar road standards.

The resurfacing programme is subject to weather conditions, temperature fluctuations, and potential equipment failures, meaning that dates and times could shift at short notice. Motorists are advised to stay informed on any changes to the schedule by following Gloucestershire Roads on Facebook and @GlosRoads on X (formerly Twitter).
