Motorists are being advised to plan alternative routes after the A466 Wye Valley Road in Gloucestershire was closed following fallen trees blocking the roadway. Gloucestershire County Council confirmed that the stretch between The Florence and Bigsweir Bridge remains shut throughout Saturday, January 17, due to multiple trees that fell overnight.
The closure has been extended as crews work to clear the debris, including a damaged vehicle trapped beneath the trees. Gloucester Roads shared a video on Facebook showing the extent of the blockage and stated that the Woodland Trust is assisting with tree removal efforts.
Authorities anticipate that the road will reopen by Sunday after the vehicle has been recovered and the fallen trees removed. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while the closure remains in effect.
