Motorists are being advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes after the A466 Wye Valley Road in Gloucestershire was closed due to fallen trees. The closure affects the section between The Florence and Bigsweir Bridge following additional tree falls overnight.
Gloucestershire County Council has issued a warning to avoid the area throughout Saturday, January 17, as clearance work is ongoing. According to the council’s highways services, the road is expected to reopen by Sunday after the trees are cleared and a damaged vehicle, which was crushed by the fallen trees, is recovered.
Gloucester Roads highlighted the situation on Facebook, sharing footage of trees blocking the road and the crushed vehicle. The Woodland Trust is leading the tree removal efforts. Drivers are strongly encouraged to seek alternative routes and allow extra travel time due to the disruption.
