A motorcyclist in his 60s has been taken to a hospital in Bristol after a collision involving his powerful motorbike and a panel van on the A40. The incident, which occurred shortly before 7am on September 9 between Northleach and Andoversford, resulted in the closure of the road near Andoversford.
Collision investigators remain at the scene as the investigation continues. Early reports indicated that the rider was initially taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a suspected head injury. Gloucestershire Police have since confirmed that the man, from Cheltenham, was riding a brown BMW R1200 GS motorcycle and has been transferred to Southmead Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The second vehicle involved was a grey Vauxhall Combo panel van. As of late afternoon, the A40 outbound remained closed at the junction with the A46 Frogmill to allow a thorough collision investigation to take place.

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes that are suitable for their vehicle size. They are also appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly those who have not yet spoken to the police or who may have dashcam footage relevant to the collision.
