Motorcyclist dies following serious crash on Painswick Road, Gloucester

A man has tragically died after being involved in a serious motorcycle crash in Gloucester last month.

Gloucestershire Police responded to reports shortly after 3.35pm on Friday 17 July regarding an injured motorcyclist on Painswick Road. The rider, believed to have been involved in a collision, was found injured at the scene.

The man, in his 50s, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital for urgent treatment. Despite medical efforts, he sadly died from his injuries on Thursday 30 July.

Police officers have been providing support to the rider’s family, who have requested privacy and asked the public to avoid speculation during this difficult time.

An investigation into the collision has been launched. Authorities are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or observed an off-road scrambler-style motorbike travelling along Painswick Road prior to the crash to come forward. Officers are also interested in any relevant dashcam footage.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said:

“Police were called shortly after 3.35pm on Friday 17 July with a report that the rider of a motorbike had been found injured and was believed to have been involved in a collision on Painswick Road.

“The rider of the motorbike, a man aged in his 50s, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital for treatment and sadly died from his injuries on Thursday 30 July.

“The man’s family, who are being supported by specially trained officers, do not wish to name him at this time, and they are asking others to respect this and refrain from speculating online.

“A collision investigation has taken place and officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened, saw an off-road scrambler style motorbike riding along Painswick Road before the collision, or who has dashcam footage they feel is relevant, to get in touch.”
